We created a campus for United Wholesale Mortgage that supports over 7,000 of their team members daily. Detroit has been home to UWM since 1986, so we aimed to honor Michigan cities, sports teams and industries throughout their campus. The campus is divided into a North and South Building and is connected by an elevated walkway. The conference rooms in the North Building are odes to Michigan sports teams including the Detroit Red Wings, the United Shore Professional Baseball League, the Detroit Lions, and Michigan State University’s Men and Women’s basketball teams. Other meeting spaces feature Motown artists, a vintage Chris-Craft wooden boat, and a vintage truck which is a nod to the Woodward Ave Dream Cruise, a Detroit tradition since 1995.
The South Building was previously home to Pontiac East Assembly, a hub of GM manufacturing. Now the building features a tri-level space of shipping containers that house conference rooms, VIP rooms, a shuffleboard court and a cargo net. The South Campus also has a replica of Hunter House, a legendary burger shop in a small, white, porcelain pill-box on Woodward Ave, that’s been around since 1952.
